Aeolus: A Forgotten British Motorcycle Brand
A Brief History
In 1877, the Aeolus name was trademarked by British inventor William Bown. According to Tragatsch (p69), Bown began producing Aeolus motorcycles powered by his own 269cc two-stroke engines from 1914 to 1923. These motorcycles were manufactured in Birmingham, England.The Bown is a Welsh built motorcycle.
This example was registered on the 28th of July 1953 in Hampshire and is still in existence today.
