Hungary Player Barnabas Varga Stable in Hospital After Euro 2024 Injury

Striker injured in collision with Scotland goalkeeper

Varga was stretchered off the pitch during the second half of the Euro 2024 match between Hungary and Scotland. He was taken to hospital where he is said to be in stable condition.

A brutal three-man collision late in the Euro 2024 group stage finale between Hungary and Scotland sent Hungarian forward Barnabás Varga to the hospital on Saturday.

Varga was stretchered from the field with 10 minutes remaining in the match after he collided with Scotland goalkeeper David Marshall and Scotland defender Jack Hendry. The 27-year-old was given oxygen on the field before being taken to a nearby hospital.

The injury occurred in the 80th minute of the match, which was tied 1-1 at the time. Hungary went on to win the match 2-1, but the victory was overshadowed by Varga's injury.

The Hungarian Football Federation said in a statement that Varga was "conscious and able to communicate" after the match. He is expected to undergo further tests in the coming days to determine the extent of his injuries.
